Forms of hosting services

A hosting solution includes keeping and/or sharing specific web content on a hosting server hosted by a website hosting supplier. There are different sorts of hosting services utilized for different purposes, so let's survey these. In this way, you can pick what you need, depending on whether you wish to own a web site, email addresses, or to share files with comrades and associates.

- File hosting: a service distributed by various web hosts, which lets you share big files. These could be disk images, movies, audio files, archived files, and so on. This service is also known as file storage, and its sole goal is to share files, since it does not support web page uploading. Once the files are uploaded, you will either get a randomly created download link for each of them, or you will be able to explore a list of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to open .html or .php web page files in your web browser. Free file storage accounts frequently include advertisements by the download links, while a timer obliges you to wait for a certain period of time to observe them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you own a paid file storage account, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download straight away, and also there is no limit with regard to the download speed or the file size.

At the moment, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting companies, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more stylish "cloud hosting". This is an entirely unsuitable interpretation of the real definition of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting environment would apportion the load between independent groups of servers in a cluster, which are dedicated to attending different website hosting services (mail, disk space, stats, DNS, databases, web page hosting Control Panel, and so on.) So, the file hosting solution is simply a sort of a storage space hosting solution, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: similar to file hosting; specific firms offer a hosting solution for images only. This hosting type is good if you desire to share an enormous number of pictures with friends or acquaintances since the solution is typically free of charge. You will get a randomly generated link for every image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file storage solution, .html and .php files are not supported, so the service cannot be utilized for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a service committed to handling your e-mail accounts. Some corporations offer web space hosting services for web pages, but do not provide an e-mail solution. If you desire to get an email address with your domain name but do not want to run a website, then the e-mail hosting solution is what you need. You can set up e-mail box accounts and manage them, but there will be no hosting solution for the domains. The e-mail hosting solution involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP e-mail servers.

- Video hosting: this solution permits you to upload and share video files. You can either share a link to a certain video file, or you can embed the video in your web site that is hosted somewhere else. The benefit of availing of this approach instead of uploading the video clip in a hosting account is that the video file produces a particular amount of CPU load, so with several video clips and a few hundred viewers, you may have a problem with your hosting resources. Embedding the video will enable you to operate as many videos as you would like without bothering about system quotas.

- Web hosting: this is the service that you require if you wish to own a website. To a certain degree, it incorporates all of the abovementioned hosting kinds since, along with your sites, you can also host pictures and files, you can have databases and e-mailbox accounts, upload videos, and so on. At Exclusive Hosting, for instance, you can observe web hosting and dedicated server hosting plans that enable you to have all of the aforementioned services in one location. There may be limits depending on the form of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting package, a paid shared hosting account, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your webspace hosting plan may be better or worse compared with the customary e-mail/file/video/image hosting accounts that are meant for particular content solely.
